这场以“我眼中的新时代”为主题的首期中国日报“新时代大讲堂”在对外经济贸易大学举行。

世界知名学者、中国问题研究专家罗伯特·劳伦斯·库恩（Robert Lawrence Kuhn）、中国日报海外版首席撰稿人安德鲁·穆迪（Andrew Moody）和中国国际电视台《视点》栏目主持人、记者刘欣作为演讲嘉宾与现场500余位观众及海内外网友分享了他们眼中的新时代。

中国日报创办新时代大讲堂有何重大意义？
中国日报社总编辑周树春在开场致辞中是这样说的：
“Today, we are launching Vision China, the New Era Lecture Theatre, in a move to embrace the New Era, pay tribute to the New Era, and reveal the full implications of the New Era.”

请问库恩先生，您现在有多重身份：中国问题研究学者、银行家、科学家……你如何能驾驭这么多的领域？他们有哪些共同点吗？

库恩给出了一个很热血的回答。对于他目前所有能够做好的事情，他都有一个共同的经验：热爱（passion）。
Whatever I do, I want to have passion for it.
无论我做什么，我都希望我能够带着热爱去做。
这也是他能够涉猎多种领域，同时长期做中国相关研究的动力之源。
第二个经验，就是他对学习的热爱（passion to learn）。
库恩说，他来中国是为了学习，而并不是为了讲课。他拿自己写书的经验来举例子：
When I write a new book, there is something I want to learn about, and I use that vehicle to learn. So passion about learning is the common denominator.

Actually, I don't like the word "present", because that means you know what you are going to talk about and you put it in front of them, take it or leave it. We choose a topic which we think might be interesting, might be informative to them, and we discuss it. I 'm not worried about what it is going to look like, what is going to be the conclusion, let's have a genuine and high-quality discussion.
实际上，我并不喜欢present这个词，因为这意味着你知道你要说的内容，你就将这些准备好的内容拿出来，任由对方取舍。而我们是选取有趣、有意义的话题，一起来讨论。我并不担心结果，也不担心结论，而是希望有一场真正的，高质量的讨论。
